June 4-5
Alright, alright, alright! Let's get this Yosemite trip report started! I've got posts lined up for the rest of the week and I'm excited to get started!
Friday June 3, I spent all day packing (I had to pack for me, three little people, plus food that we would eat up at the cabin and distractions for the drive on top of everything else). We went to bed for a few hours then woke up at 3:00 on Saturday morning, packed up the kids and the car and headed West! The drive takes about 10-11 hours, but with babies and kiddos, it's always a bit longer. Luckily, they slept for the first half and by the time we got to the second half, the scenery was pretty distracting.
But I also made some good decisions when packing their car ride entertainment bag that I would for sure suggest to any parent planning a long trip. Of course we had our iPad in it's travel companion but the day before, I bought a bunch of toys from the dollar store. Best. Idea. Ever.
We made a couple of stops on our way to Yosemite for breakfast and lunch and then a couple of more once we were inside the park because the scenery is absolutely stunning! I felt so close to the One who created all of the beauty I was seeing as we witnessed some of the most overwhelmingly beautiful features that nature had to offer.
And we saw a baby bear. I mentioned it in this post.
We ended up getting to our cabin at about 4:00 (PST) then ate some dinner and did some grocery shopping before bed.
The next day, after attending the ward in Yosemite, our friends, the Carnohan's arrived and we took a car ride down to Bass Lake, about two miles from the cabin. Of course Chelsea fell in, but it's not really a day at the beach unless someone falls in, right?
To be continued...
Yosemite looks gorgeous! I was just talking with my husband about how we want to go to a lot of National Parks for family vacations, and we talked about going here! Looks so fun!
