Alexa – Seven Months

February 22, 2015
Teething is the worst.

Earaches make us both want to cry.

Having Mommy in your sights is a must.

Rolling onto your back from your tummy is hard.

Sitting up is a breeze.

Crawling is a new frontier you have yet to embark upon (but you are soooo close)!

Smiles light up your face often.

Big sister can make you laugh like no one else can.

But she gets a little overwhelmingly enthusiastic sometimes.

Solid foods aren’t so bad, especially sweet potatoes, squash, and bananas.

Pooping is problematic.

You always want Mommy, Daddy, and Chelsea to share food.

Ice cubes are d-lish!

As are frozen bananas (placed inside your mesh teething toy, of course).

Mirrors are fun!

Napping isn’t so hard, as long as Mommy comes in and inserts the pacifier back in your mouth two, three, or four times.

You get hungry at night, or cold, so sometimes you wake up at 1:00 and 4:00.

Mommy is definitely your favorite.

Imitating coughs is kind of funny! *ahhh ahhh*

Your "mu mu mu's," "buh buh buh's," and tongue waggles/thrusts are the cutest!

Smiling and posing for the camera is NOT an issue.

Service blog hop – 2/20/15

February 20, 2015
Remember Kallie from Life through a Lens who guest posted here last week? Well, this sweetheart of a gal is truly blossoming into blogger-hood and is starting her very first blog-hop, and I love what it’s all about.

Service.

For my act of service, I decided that I would write a nice note for one of Chelsea’s nursery teachers at church, that Chelsea and I would make cookies together, and I would try making a little graphic image. I quickly got to work on the graphic image, attempting to get in touch with my artistic side.

As I worked on my bit of art, I started to have some self-doubt. I knew that I would be sharing this experience here, online along with a few other amazing, kind, thoughtful, and VERY talented bloggers and I wondered if my act of service would be impressive enough, or if my art would end up just looking stupid and I would embarrass myself.

And then I remembered an important principle of service: It doesn’t matter how big or small the act is. The point is that I took some time out of my day to make someone else’s a little brighter.

So I stopped worrying and just enjoyed myself while trying something new, making cookies with my daughter, and writing a heat-felt letter of gratitude to the woman who works so hard to help my daughter’s little testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ, grow.

Thanks for stopping by today! Please take a little time to see what else I’ve got going on here, then do yourself a service, and stop by these other fabulous women. Most importantly, get yourself motivated to reach out and brighten someone else’s day today. See you next time!

Happy birthday Andrew – 2015

February 17, 2015

I could go on and on and gush about how amazing and wonderful this man is that I married, but I’m pretty sure that would just embarrass him, and it is his birthday. Suffice it to say, I love him very, very dearly.

Aaaaaaaannnnnnnd I’m going to bombard you with photos of my number one man. A little bit of embarrassment is called for on your birthday if you don’t like the lime-light, right?

Guest Post: Kallie from Life Through a Lens

February 10, 2015
Good morning everyone! I am really excited to introduce you to Kallie today, espeically because she is sharing an easy, yummy recipe for Valentine's day!

I met Kallie a little while ago via the blogo-sphere and was completely charmed by her sweetness and bright, sunny personality, two attributes that shine through her writing on her blog. Just keep reading and you'll see what I mean.

.
.
.

Hello ladies! Isn't Sue amazing? I totally love her blog but, then again, who doesn't? I am beyond thrilled to be guest posting on here today! Wahoo! My name? It's Kallie. My blog name? Life Through a lens. I'm not your average blogger. Most of you are young moms, and I am far from that. I'm a Sophomore in High School. Yep, you read right, I go to school everyday from 7:30 till 2:25. "Why did you start a blog?", you ask. Let me tell ya,  I started my blog only a few months ago, I wanted to be able to share my hobbies with others. I then fell in love with the blogging community, which was bound to happen, it is pretty amazing.

Wanna know somethin' about me? I love Valentines Day! I love everything about it! The decorations, the fun colors, the whole point of the holiday (love), and of course the treats! I mean seriously, Pinterest is a bad idea for me this time of the year. I want to make everything that has a heart on it or is red and pink. It's a bad addiction. Welll, this leads me into the point of this whole post. I made a similar yogurt parfait over on my blog and thought I would share this with all of you! Plus, it is super cute and, who doesn't love cute things?

All you need for this lovely dessert is...

Strawberry yogurt
Whipped Cream
M&M

I used a medicine syringe to put the yogurt in the cup. Let me tell ya, don't try using a spoon, it doesn't work, trust me! Ha!

Top with whip cream!

That's it! A super yummy and way cute Valentine's Day dessert!

Like mentioned before, I love "the day of love"! Want more fun ideas? Other yummy treats? Maybe even outfit ideas? Check out my blog! I also have some pretty cute pics of my friends holding a way cute DIY V-Day Banner, yep it's pretty perfect, if you ask me!

I made these yummy cupcakes a few weeks ago, which are perfect for this holiday! Check it out...you know you want too;)

Hope to see you all over on Life Through a Lens soon!

Happy Love Day!

The cookies and Milk Mama

February 5, 2015
If there’s one thing I do well, it’s bake cookies. I may not be able to create recipes or even tweak them, but I hardly EVER botch a batch of cookies. You could call me the follow-the-recipe cookie queen.

This morning began on a good note with some Krispy Kremes for breakfast, but quickly went down-hill from there.
Tantrum over not wanting to sit on the potty. Cue, irritated mama.
Knocking over little sister. Cue agitated mama.
Making unnecessary mess. Cue impatient mama.
It took me way too long to realize that miss Chelsea’s naughty behavior was a cry for attention and that, instead of getting angry and trying my darndest to finish my sewing project (or anything else for that matter), wasn’t worth the emotional stress or relationship building I was missing out on with my daughter.
After a few desperate texts with my man at work and a phone call with my mama , I put aside my project, put Alexa down for a nap, and played catch, ran races, pretended to be a frog, and sang songs with my oldest daughter until naptime. Cue quality time with baby, followed by project time.

When Chelsea woke up, I put my project aside once again and we made some of our favorite cookies: Gingersnaps.

We talked about ingredients, how to measure them, what numbers were used in the cookbook, and rolled the dough balls in the sugar together. We laughed took pictures, sang together, and laughed some more. Who knew that “Mary had a little Dragonfly, whose fleece was white as dah-doh” could be so funny?

Although, we were having so much fun taking pictures and singing about Mary’s dragonfly that we kind of forgot to set a timer.

Guess I can’t always have a perfect batch of cookies. Oh well! I’ll take a slightly burnt batch of cookies with a smiling, truly blissful toddler any ‘ol day!

Moral of the story: Manage your time and project list better, and make sure your little ones know that they mean more to you than some dumb ‘ol project.

I love you, sweetheart.
