New Year Resolutions

January 3, 2013
I have a confession... I have NEVER in my life made any New Year Resolutions. I've always kind of felt like you should be making goals throughout the year and throughout your life so I've never really made any. I think it's also because I like short-term goals that help me meet the long term goals. I concentrate more on the short term ones anyway. Make sense?
Well, whatever the reason, I've never done it... Until this year. But I think this is more like a bucket list with a few actual, for real goals. But! Before I get into that, I want to go over some of the goals I accomplished in this last year. I think everyone deserves some bragging rights at least once a year, so pardon me while I take a moment... ahem...

1. At the beginning of August, one of my brothers said that he had decided that he was going to start to read the Book of Mormon and finish it by the end of the year. He invited our family to take the challenge as well, so I did.
2. When Chelsea was four months old, Andrew's work threw a summer party with a 5K run which I participated in and completed in 35:00. Not bad for four months and pushing a stroller (Andrew helped a little).
3. Completed an Advent Calendar before Christmas. Hey! It was a big deal to me, okay?
4. Managed to get on top of finances and begin saving for a house! Hip hip hooray!
5. Learned a lot about sewing from multiple projects.
6. Gave birth to my beautiful baby girl!
7. Started my blog!

So, as you can see, none of these were actually New Year Resolutions, although they were pretty legit, if I do say so myself...
Anyway, since I decided to do a few Resolutions this year, I had to think up some good ones and I found myself getting really excited about the coming year. Until now, I've never really understood the hype about the new year, but I think I'm starting to. Here's what I have to look forward to:

1. Run a 5K (I don't know if I'm quite ready for a half marathon, but who knows!)
2. Attend the temple once a month (at least!)
3. Read the entire New Testament
4. Reach 100+ Followers on my blog (tell your friends!)
5. Sell at least one crib set (seriously. Tell your friends.)
6. Buy a house (well, first we'll find a house)
7. Buy a car
8. Write a song
9. Get my children's book/poem My Nose is a Hose published (you should read it and tell me what you think!)
10. Go to the Rec Center to Swim, run, cycle, whatever at least twice a week (vacations excluded)
11. Include vegetables in my dinner meal every night.
12. Go on a camping trip with my little family

And that's all I think I'd better get myself into. I just know that this year is really going to be a good one! Wish us luck!
