Chelseaisms - August 2015

August 10, 2015

One morning when Chelsea was sleeping in bed with me and Andrew (she's been crawling into our bed every night/morning for the past week or so), she suddenly said, "That car has a cutie mark!"

Andrew had to take our "new" car to get smogged and check the emissions and he took Chelsea with him. Her car seat sits higher in this car than it does in our regular car so she could see the road more easily, plus the car is a bit noisier (imagine creaks and groans) than the regular car, so when Andrew started going on the freeway, Chelsea got really worried and said to Andrew, "Daddy, don't go too fast." After reassuring her that they would be okay, Chelsea asserted, "I don't think this is very safe."

At the mechanics where Chelsea and Andrew went for the smog and emissions test, they had some candy. Chelsea grabbed a sucker for herself and a second to bring home to me *so sweet!* By the time they got back in the car, Chelsea had eaten her sucker and was internally struggling with a moral dilemma. Andrew could hear her say "Chelsea eat it, or give it to Mommy? Chelsea eat it, or give it to Mommy?" About two or three minutes of this, Andrew looked back and saw that Chelsea had removed the wrapper from the sucker and was still asking herself "Chelsea eat it, or give it to Mommy? Chelsea eat it, or give it to Mommy?" A couple of more minutes of this and finally, Chelsea can't handle it anymore. "CHELSEA EAT IT!" #diedlaughing

This interview with Chelsea:

Chelsea has been really sensitive to the fact that I have a baby in my tummy. Sometimes she starts to rough house a little, but if I remind her of the baby, she stops, lifts up my shirt and gives the baby a kiss.

When we ask her if she wants a baby brother or a baby sister next, she says she wants a baby brother and she wants to name him Jack. We'll find out if we're expecting a boy or a girl next week!

We went and visited my parents a couple of weeks ago for a few days and both girls just love the swings! And the slide for that matter! It was totally adorable to see Chelsea push Alexa in the swing then hold her and slide down the slide with her.

Chelsea still has her... less than perfect moments. She throws quite a few tantrums (mostly about food and playing the games she wants RIGHT when she wants to), but I'll tell you what, Chelsea as a 3-year old is WAY better than Chelsea as a 2-year old!

She still runs circles around me, tires me out quicker than a pit stop crew (bahaha!), and has the strongest will of any child EVER, but I love every bit of her and know that some day, that strength will make her the leader that she needs to be in this family and with her peers. We love you, Chelsea!

Alexa's first birthday

August 3, 2015
Finally. A month and a half later, I'm getting around to sharing about Alexa's birthday!

The week or so preceding Alexa's birthday, I had spent the bulk of my time reading books and lying on the couch. Let's just say that the first trimester lazy was taking me over. The day of Alexa's birthday, I wanted to make special, despite my tiredness. I woke up in the morning and made some Belgian waffles, complete with Strawberries!

Andrew had a work party that morning with his team from work so he took the car and there we were. Sitting at home. That just would not do for Alexa's special day. I steeled myself against the heat, packed the girls in the stroller and made the 1 mile (or less) trek to the splash pad down the street. Both girls took fantastic naps when we got home and I tried to clean the house while they slept because my cousin and bestie, Liz was coming over at about 4:00. Andrew was good enough to stop at the store to buy cake mix and frosting for Alexa's little birthday celebration plus a yummy pizza for dinner, after presents, of course!

Unfortunately, my photography skills suffered from my first trimester laziness and I was practically fighting with Andrew and the phone he was skyping his parents on for the best angle, so the pictures aren't exactly what I was hoping for, but I decided that as long as I document the moment, the quality doesn't really matter all that much, right?

Overall, it was a great birthday for little Alexa! I'll post some more pictures of my sweet little one-year-old soon! Happy birthday, my dear!

Social Media Silence

August 1, 2015
I never know what my policy should be when it comes to apologizing for social media silence. Is my blog really popular enough for people to miss me when I'm gone? Does apologizing just make it sound like I'm self-important? Does not apologizing make it seem like I don't think what I write here is of value?

Well, there's no hurt in a simple "I'm sorry," so I'll go ahead and offer it. Sorry it's been quiet around here lately! I have an excuse, though. Some of you may have guessed it already.

There you go m'dears! Baby number three is due to arrive on February 11, but I'm telling myself that he or she is actually due on February 18 since his or her older sisters were both late.

I'm 13 weeks along and feeling SO grateful that the first trimester is nearly over! I have been SO tired, lazy, unmotivated, and just a little a lot emotional! I'll tell you what, being pregnant with two little kiddos running around is a lot different than being pregnant with none or even just one! Let's just say the TV has definitely been on more often for the girls while I read or sleep, Andrew comes home to a messy house more often than not, and we've been eating out much more often than usual. First trimester is brutal, but I don't feel like I can complain too much since I haven't thrown up once.

I'll be honest, Andrew and I are hoping for a boy this time, although I was watching Pride and Prejudice the other night and I thought, maybe having another girl wouldn't be so bad. Andrew disagrees. :)

So if you've been wondering where the Stanges have been, now you know! Hopefully my energy will renew this trimester and I'll find the motivation to update you on Alexa's birthday (half a month ago), and whatever else comes our way. Until then, happy anniversary yesterday Andrew, and see you guys again *soon.*

Keep it real.

P.S. If anyone wants to bring me Peach Rings, Cheetohs, In 'n Out, or Chick-fil-A, I'll for sure open the door for you. Same goes for anyone who feels like babysitting. :)
