Service blog hop – 2/20/15

February 20, 2015
Remember Kallie from Life through a Lens who guest posted here last week? Well, this sweetheart of a gal is truly blossoming into blogger-hood and is starting her very first blog-hop, and I love what it’s all about.

Service.

For my act of service, I decided that I would write a nice note for one of Chelsea’s nursery teachers at church, that Chelsea and I would make cookies together, and I would try making a little graphic image. I quickly got to work on the graphic image, attempting to get in touch with my artistic side.

As I worked on my bit of art, I started to have some self-doubt. I knew that I would be sharing this experience here, online along with a few other amazing, kind, thoughtful, and VERY talented bloggers and I wondered if my act of service would be impressive enough, or if my art would end up just looking stupid and I would embarrass myself.

And then I remembered an important principle of service: It doesn’t matter how big or small the act is. The point is that I took some time out of my day to make someone else’s a little brighter.

So I stopped worrying and just enjoyed myself while trying something new, making cookies with my daughter, and writing a heat-felt letter of gratitude to the woman who works so hard to help my daughter’s little testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ, grow.

Thanks for stopping by today! Please take a little time to see what else I’ve got going on here, then do yourself a service, and stop by these other fabulous women. Most importantly, get yourself motivated to reach out and brighten someone else’s day today. See you next time!

  2. This is so cute! The graphic is adorable! I totally agree with what you said at the beginning! I knew I wanted to link up to such a great project, but was worried about it being good or big enough. I love what you said about about not mattering how small or big it is and the point of service is to just brighten someone's day. I agree 100% and am trying to work on this more!
