Sunday Goal-Setting

November 8, 2015
The primary purpose of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saint's welfare program is "to set up, insofar as it might be possible, a system under which the curse of idleness would be done away with, the evils of a dole abolished, and independence, industry, thrift, and self-respect be once more established amongst our people." - Heber J. Grant, Oct 1936

Our lesson in church today was all about temporal and spiritual welfare. Whereas my spiritual welfare is something that I actively work on every day, my preparedness with temporal welfare is a bit lacking. That's why when I got home from church today, I decided that this week, my goal is to use some of my food storage to make bread.

GOAL: USE FOOD STORAGE WHEAT TO MAKE BREAD

There are a lot of ways that I know I could improve myself when it comes to preparedness. In fact, there are so many that I decided it would be helpful if I made myself a list! My list consists of building up our food storage, learning how to garden and prepare for one this spring, learn how to cook with food storage, learn how to can, learn basic first aid and gather supplies, learn how to light a fire, create a fire escape plan from our house for me and my family, and some financial goals that I'll decline to share. ;)

When Andrew and I visited his Oma in Texas, she told me a little bit about her experience as a small child being forced out of her home, going from being raised with a "silver spoon," to nothing. She then said to me, "You don't know how good you have it." I try to remember what she said. Tragedies and calamities can happen to anyone anywhere. I want to be prepared so that when any come my way, me and my family can provide for ourselves and anyone else who may need the help.

I'll let you know how the bread making goes. Wish me luck!

Oh, and here's a picture from this week. #kids
